BVB: Cowgirls Defeat Tarleton State For Programs First Win In Inaugural Season

LAKE CHARLES--  McNeese beach volleyball made history Friday by picking up its first win in program history in its inaugural season with a 4-1 victory over Tarleton State on the first day of the Cowgirl Beach Bash.
 
The Cowgirls opened the match by winning the first two points from pair two (Harlee Tupper/Rylee Lansing) and pair four (Jolie Savoie/Nadia Manitzas).  Tarleton State picked up its only point of the match with a three-set win from pair five. 
 
A straight set 21-12, 21-16 win by the Cowgirls' No. 3 pair (Kendall Osgood, Ella Swansiger) clinched the match for a 3-1 lead and the first Cowgirl victory of the season.  The final pair at No. 1 (Carissa Chainey/Gracey Janes) finished off the match with a 21-18, 21-15 win for the fourth Cowgirl point.  
 
Earlier in the day, the Cowgirls lost 5-0 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in its season opener. 
 
The second and final day of the tournament will have Cal Poly and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi facing off at 9 a.m. The Cowgirls will face 20th ranked Cal Poly at 11 a.m. followed by Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 1 p.m. The Texans will face Nicholls at 3 p.m.  McNeese will close out tournament play with a 5 p.m. match against Nicholls.
