BATON ROUGE—McNeese women's tennis wasted little time in its 4-0 road win at Southern Saturday morning to improve to 11-1 on the year and extended its winning streak to nine matches.
Wins by
Arina Gamretkaia and
Anastasija Adeikyte at the No. 1 doubles and
Tiana Fox and Aina Domingo Bernabeu's win at No. 2 doubles put McNeese up 1-0 heading into singles play. Gamretkaia and Adeikyte improved to 11-1 in doubles competition with the win while Bernabeu and Fox improved to 6-1 on the season in doubles play.
Adeikyte remained undefeated in singles play at 10-0 with her 6-0, 6-1 win at at no. 2 singles to give McNeese a 2-0 advantage.
Fox improved to 7-1 on the year with her 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 and
Emma-Lou Pommiers clinched the match point with her 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 3. Pommiers improved to 9-1 on the year with the win.
McNeese will begin Southland Conference play next Saturday, March 2 at New Orleans and at Nicholls on Monday, March 4.
