Cowgirls drop battle with Huskies in waning moments

HOUSTON, Texas— After a back-and-forth duel for all four quarters, McNeese (4-20, 0-11 SLC) women's basketball dropped the game to HCU (6-16, 1-10 SLC) 56-51in Sharp Gym.
 
With 11 lead changes throughout the battle, the Huskies took the final lead with 7:23 left in the fourth to close off the game. In addition to the lead changes, the two teams tied up the game eight times.
 
Emilia Tenbrock, a junior, led the team with 14 points and tied for the most rebounds (8) and steals (2) in the performance. She shot a perfect 3-3 from the line, hitting three threes and shooting 50% from the court.
 
N'Denasija Collins led all players in scoring with 21 points, also shooting 50% on the court at 8-16. She was one of three players to play all 40 minutes of the game for the Huskies.
 
McNeese returns to The Legacy Center to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for the second time this season.
 
1st Quarter
• The blue and gold earned the first points of the game on a Yespes layup
• Gil scored a fifth of the team's first-quarter points in her return to the team
• McNeese trailed by four at the end of the quarter 14-10
 
2nd Quarter
• Both teams opened the second quarter scoreless for two minutes
• Rosini made a layup with four minutes left to give the Cowgirls a 20-18 lead
• There were two lead changes in the quarter
 
3rd Quarter
• Tenbrock gave McNeese a 27-26 lead with 8:13 in the quarter
• McNeese ended the quarter on a 7-1 run
• Five lead changes occurred in the 10-minute span
• McNeese shot 6-12 in the third for a 50% shooting percentage
• The Pokes ended the third with a two-point lead 42-40
 
4th Quarter
• The Huskies tied up the game with 8:13 left in the game 
• HCU ended the game on a 4-0 run after McNeese made it 52-51
