BATON ROUGE, La. – Deep into the 14th inning, senior
Cooper Hext was propelled home by
Chase Keeton, a redshirt senior, to give McNeese baseball its second road victory of the season 4-3 over Southern at Lee-Hines Stadium Tuesday night. The Cowboys elevate their season record to 9-8 while the Jaguars drop to 4-10.

By defeating the Jaguars, the Cowboys pick up their second road win of the season after defeating Louisiana Christian last week. Both road wins have come down to one-run games for the blue and gold.

 McNeese jumpstarted the game early on in the first inning with three home runs by Keeton, Hext, and junior
Simon Larranaga for the early 3-0 lead. Southern scored runs in the first, fourth, and fifth innings to tie it up at three a piece. The three home runs in an inning is the first time since 2020 for the Cowboys and third occurenca all-time, tying the program record.
Hext and Larranaga kept up the extra-base trend, hitting a triple and double respectively while also earning multi-hit games with two hits a piece.Â

The Cowboys are slated for a weekend of rest before traveling to UL-Lafayette on Wednesday, March 20 for a rematch.
