NEW ORLEANS--  McNeese beach volleyball will travel to New Orleans this weekend for the Southland Conference Midseason Tournament that will take place at the UNO Privateer Beach.  The Midseason Tournament is used for seeding for the Southland Conference Tournament that is scheduled for April 19-21 in Houston.
 
The Cowgirls enter their first Midseason Tournament and will play six conference matches over three days, opening play at 8 a.m. Friday against recently ranked Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (13-4, 1-0 SLC. 
 
The Islanders, the defending Southland Conference champions earned a No. 20 AVCA ranking, its first ranking in program history.
 
The Cowgirls (2-13, 1-0 SLC) are coming off its first SLC win in program history with a 4-1 win over Nicholls at the UL-Monroe Bayou Bash last weekend.
 
McNeese will also face San Jose State (6-7, 0-1 SLC) at 1:15 p.m. Friday.  Saturday's schedule has the Cowgirls taking on Houston Christian (2-16, 1-0 SLC) at 8 a.m. and Southeastern (6-7, 2-1 SLC) at 2:30 p.m. before closing tournament play against Boise State (14-7, 1-0 SLC) at 9:15 p.m. and New Orleans (7-8, 0-2 SLC) at 4 p.m. Sunday.
