LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball completed its Southland Conference series sweep over Incarnate Word Saturday with a 3-0 win in the opening game of a doubleheader to clinch the series then came from behind in the series finale to pick up an 11-6 win. McNeese opened the series with a 4-3 win on Friday.

McNeese improved to 19-13 overall and 5-1 in league play with the wins while UIW falls to 16-9 overall and 4-5 in the SLC with the losses.

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Cowgirls took a 2-0 lead after the first two inning with single runs in the first and second innings.Â
Samantha Mundine's RBI double gave the Cowgirls a 1-0 lead in the first inning then
Mariana Torres's bunt single scored
Alexis Dibbley for the 2-0 lead. Torres struck again in the fourth inning with an infield single that scored Dibbley for the 3-0 lead.

Lindsay Davis picked up her third win of the season with the complete game shutout, her second shutout of the season. Davis allowed only four hits with one walk in the win.

Torres, Dibbley, and
Reese Reyna all picked up two hits apiece to account for all six Cowgirl hits in the game.

UIW held a 5-1 lead after fours inning before the Cowgirl bats came alive in the fifth. McNeese scored seven runs on five hits to take a 7-5 lead. With runners on first and second coming off a
Jada Muñoz pinch hit walk and a pinch-hit single by Rylee Ester put the Cowgirls at the top of the batting order and
Corine Poncho at the plate. Poncho brought McNeese to within one run with her 11
th homerun of the season, sending a pitch over the centerfield wall.Â

McNeese continued to extend its lead with a RBI single by Dibbley and a two RBI single by Reyna for an 8-5 McNeese lead.

UIW pulled to within 8-6 with a single run in the sixth but McNeese tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the sixth on RBI's from
Samantha Mundine,
Rylie Bouvier, and
Delaney Dunham to extend the lead to 11-8.

McNeese ended the game with 11 hits and was led with two hits apiece from Poncho,
Crislyne Moreno, and Dibbley. Dibbley closed out the game in the circle to pick up her first career save.

Ryan Schexnayder improved to 5-2 on the year with the win in relief of starter
Shaelyn Sanders. Schexnayder allowed two runs on four hits in 2.0 innings while Sanders allowed four runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings.
