BVB: Cowgirls Battled But Fell Short At SLC Midseason Tournament

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese beach volleyball took part in its first Southland Conference midseason tournament over the weekend in New Orleans with six matches played in three days.
 
The midseason tournament is used to determine the regular season champion and is also used for seeding for the conference tournament which is slated for April 19-21 in Houston, Texas.
 
Despite dropping all six matches including a loss to No. 20 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi who repeated as Southland Conference regular season champions with an undefeated SLC record at 7-0, the Cowgirls battled throughout the weekend.  
 
The Cowgirls picked up set wins against San Jose State and Southeastern but were shutout against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Houston Christian, Boise State, and New Orleans.
 
The No. 1 pair of Carissa Chainey and Gracey Janes defeated San Jose State's Jaida Ward and Jada Hall 22-24, 21-16, 15-11 on Friday, March 22 in the second match of the day for the Cowgirls.
 
The No. 2 pair of Rylee Lansing and Kendall Osgood defeated Southeastern's Alexis Logarbo and Maddie Shepston 21-16, 21-18 on Saturday.
 
McNeese will return to New Orleans on April 6 to take part in the Tulane Bayou Beach Duals.
