LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 Southland Conference win over Northwestern State Tuesday in its home finale and on senior day. Seniors
Natalia Ballo, Aina-Domingo Bernabeu, and
Emma-Lou Pommiers were honored prior to the match.
With the win, McNeese improves to 17-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play. The win also extends its winning streak to 15 matches. The win also gave McNeese an 8-0 undefeated home record, only the second undefeated home record in program history. The 2019 team posted a 6-0 home record.
McNeese took a 1-0 lead against the Lady Demons (8-6, 1-2 SLC) who played shorthanded by winning the doubles point. McNeese picked up the No. 3 doubles win by default but despite winning that match by default, the Cowgirls won the No. 2 doubles match with a 6-4 win by
Maria Wang Martinez and Ballo.
Heading into singles play, the Cowgirls picked up another point by default to lead 2-0. Four of the five singles matches that were played went three sets and included three tiebreakers.

Anastasija Adeikyte all dropped their first sets in their match but fought back to win their next two sets to pick up wins at No. 1, 2, and 3 singles.
The Cowgirls will be on the road for its final three regular season SLC matches beginning with an 11 a.m. match at Lamar this Saturday. McNeese will travel to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on April 6 before closing out the regular season at Incarnate Word on April 8.
