LAKE CHARLES—McNeese softball fell 4-1 to Louisiana-Monroe in the final game of a three-game series Saturday but the Cowgirls won the series 2-1 with a doubleheader win on Friday.
McNeese (14-11) couldn't get the timely hit it needed, leaving seven runners stranded including the bases loaded in the fifth inning trailing 3-1.
Brooke Otto and
Chloe Gomez accounted for all four Cowgirl hits with both players picking up two hits apiece. Gomez knocked in the only McNeese run with a double to left center that scored
Jada Muñoz in the fourth inning.
Lindsay Davis fell to 2-5 on the year with the loss. Davis gave up four runs on six hits with four strikeouts and two walks in the complete game.
ULM (17-8) scored a single run in the first two in the third and another in the sixth and collected six hits on the day including two doubles.
McNeese will travel to UL-Lafayette next Wednesday then will begin Southland Conference play at Nicholls next weekend.
