SB: No. 18 Florida State Run Rules McNeese

TALLAHASSEE, Fl.—No. 18 Florida State softball scored early an often Tuesday night on its way to a 12-0 (5 inning) run-rule win over McNeese.  The teams will meet again Wednesday night for a single game that will be televised on the ACC Network. First pitch set for 7 p.m. (CT).
 
The Seminoles improve to 25-9 overall and extended its winning streak to seven games.  The loss drops McNeese to 23-14 and snapped its eight-game winning streak.
 
FSU took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Kaley Mudge led off with a triple then scored on a sacrifice fly by Kalei Harding.
 
A two out three run homerun by Michaela Edenfield in the third inning put the Seminoles up 4-0.
 
FSU blew the game open with eight runs in the fourth inning including a solo homerun by Kennedy Harp and a three-run home run by Jahni Kerr.
 
McNeese had chances to score in the first inning when Samantha Mundine singled to right with two outs. Mundine attempted to score on an Alexis Dibbley double to right but was thrown out at the plate.
 
The Cowgirls had another chance to scratch a run across the plate in the second inning, but left Bella Perez stranded on third and Mariana Torres stranded at second.  Florida State never allowed another Cowgirl to reach base in the final three innings.
 
McNeese picked up four hits with Dibbley and Perez picking up the only extra base hits with doubles.  FSU had eight hits on the night with four being extra base hits, three of which here homeruns.
 
Shaelyn Sanders suffered the loss, falling to 11-7 on the year.  Sanders allowed six runs on six hits, one walk and one strikeout in 3 2/3 innings.  Reliever Lindsay Davis allowed six runs on two hits with three walks in 1/3 of an inning.
