Cowboys bested by Colonels 10-3

THIBODAUX, La. – McNeese Baseball was bested by Nicholls Friday afternoon at Ben Meyer Diamond 10-3 before heading into the final game of the series Saturday. The Cowboys move to 28-25, 10-13 SLC while the Colonels rise to 34-19, 16-7 in SLC action.
 
The Cowboys scored their first run of the ballgame in seventh inning as senior Elliot Hebert came home on a sacrifice fly by senior Braden Duhon. Their next run came in the top of the ninth on a solo shot home run to right field. Duhon was able to cross home plate himself in the ninth, scoring the second run of the ninth for the Pokes on a Parker Stroh (senior) RBI single.
 
Hebert recorded two extra-base hits in the performance. He had his first with a double in the seventh to place him in scoring position before he came home. The home run in the ninth was his fifth on the season.

Heading into the final game of the series, McNeese resides in fifth within the Southland Conference standings, half a game ahead of Southeastern over which the Cowboys own a tiebreaker.

McNeese and Nicholls round out the regular season Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ben Meyer Diamond ahead of the SLC Championships.
