Cowgirls earn second straight shutout, downs LCU 4-0



LAKE CHARLES, La. – The McNeese soccer team claimed its second consecutive shutout victory over Louisiana Christian Friday night 4-0 at Cowgirl Field. The meeting marked the first time either squad met in the history of the programs.

The Pitch Side:
• The Cowgirls out shot the Wildcats 18-7 on their home pitch.
• Ellis Hosch collected her first collegiate goal in the final three minutes.
• Jackie Kelly and Celeste Marijnissen shared time in the net at 45 minutes a piece.
• Marijnissen made her collegiate debut when she took to the net to start the second half.
• For the first time of the 2024 season, not a lone Cowgirl played all 90 minutes on the pitch with 29 players seeing time.
• Mandi Boudreaux made her first start of the season for the Pokes.
• The shutout marked the second consecutive shutout of the season against Texas Southern and LCU.
• Second consecutive victory for the Pokes when playing at Cowgirl Field.
 
How It Happened:
• Morgan Schooley netted the first goal of the match in the 41st minute of play on a penalty kick, her second goal of the season.
• The Pokes scored one goal in the first half before adding three more on in the second period.
• Salma Elhaimer earned her second goal of the season in the 64th minute with an assist by Karlyn Judge.
• Dom Ducal collected her first goal of the season in the 68th minute of play off an assist by Bailee Ramirez.
• Ellis Hosch earned her first collegiate goal in the final three minutes of play with an assist dished out by Isabelle Smith.
 
Next up: The Cowgirls conclude their non-conference slate against Texas State on Sept. 19 at home before taking to the road once again.
