Denison nets first career goal, Cowgirls fall to Bobcats



LAKE CHARLES – McNeese soccer fell to Texas State 2-1 Thursday night in a thrilling duel that remained tied until the final 13 minutes at Cowgirl Field.

The Pitch Side:
• Jackie Kelly broke a program record in career goalie games started with her 47th start.
• Grace Denison earned her first collegiate goal in the second half with an assist by Dom Ducal.
• Two freshmen took shots in the performance off Denison and Bella Galan.
• Jackie Kelly amassed 16 saves in the outing to move up to second in program history at 252.
• The Bobcats outshot the Cowgirls 33-2 with both Pokes' shots coming in the latter period.
• Texas State did not record a save in the performance.
• McNeese has scored in three consecutive matches dating back to Texas Southern.
 
How It Happened:
• Texas State scored the first goal of the evening at the 24:18 mark off Mady Soumare with an assist by Zoe Junior.
• McNeese tied up the match in the second half at 58:52 on a goal by Grace Denison with an assist by Dom Ducal.
• At 77:22, Texas State's Helen Alormenu scored the game-winning goal off an assist by Anna Dunch and Chloe Jones.
 
Next Up: The Cowgirls take to the road against Southeastern Sunday afternoon at 6 p.m. in Hamond, Louisiana.
