VB: Cowgirls Come Back From Two Sets Down To Defeat Tarleton State



LAKE CHARLES--  McNeese volleyball came back from a two-set deficit Tuesday afternoon to pick up a five-set win (26-28, 22-25, 27-25, 28-18, 16-14) over Tarleton State to improve to 4-5 overall.  The Texans fall to 1-8 on the season.
 

POST MATCH NOTES
• McNeese recorded a season high 76 kills
• McNeese ended the match with a .214 hitting percent
• Megan Grose picked up her 1,000th career assists, becoming the 16th McNeese player to record 1,000 career assists
• Lacie Schooley recorded her first career triple double (13 kills, 14 assists, 11 digs)
• Three other Cowgirls recorded double doubles (Megan Grose- 42 assists, 14 digs, McKenzie Moore- 28 kills, 16 digs, Bailey Tillman- 26 digs, 10 assists)
• Kendall Osgood led all players with a career high 30 digs
• McKenzie Moore tied her career high with 28 kills
• Naterah Moore recorded a career high 18 kills
• Bailey Tillman was credited with a season high 26 digs
 
 
Set 1
• Tarleton State opened the match by taking a 6-2 lead in the first set
• With McNeese trailing 11-7, the Cowgirls went on a 7-0 run to take a 14-11 lead and then led 19-17
• A 4-0 run by the Texans put them up 21-19
• McNeese retook the lead 22-21 on a Texan attacking error
• Kills by Schooley and M. Moore gave the Cowgirls set point, but Tarleton tied the set at 24 apiece on the next point.
• With the set tied at 26, Tarleton scored the next two points to win the set.
 
Set 2
• The set went back and forth and neither team led by more than two points until McNeese went on a mini run to take a 22-20 lead.
• Tarleton State responded by scoring the sets final five points to win the set for a 2-0 match lead.
 
Set 3
• The Cowgirls responded by coming from behind and fought off two set points to score the final three points of the set on two kills by Schooley and one by M. Moore to avoid the sweep.
 
Set 4
• With the set tied at six apiece, McNeese would score the next four points to lead 10-6 then extended the lead to 20-11 following a four-point run.  N. Moore ended the set with a kill to even the match at two sets apiece
 
Set 5
• Tarleton held an 13-9 lead, but the Cowgirls chipped away behind two aces from Schooley, two kills from M. Moore, and one kill by Kimaya Webb to reach match point leading 14-3.
• Tarleton would even the set at 14 on a McNeese error but a kill by Webb regained the lead for McNeese before the match ended on a Tarleton State hitting error to complete the comeback.
