LAKE CHARLES - The McNeese Cowboy and Cowgirl cross country teams will return to action on Saturday morning when they host the House of Sole Cowboy Stampede at the Enos Derbonne Sports Complex in Lake Charles.
This is the first competition for either squad since the McNeese Season Opener meet back on August 30. They'll run again on October 18 at the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invite before the Southland Conference Championships on November 1 in New Orleans.
The women will run a 5k beginning at 8:30 a.m. followed by a men's 4-mile race at 9 a.m. Also running will be high school and middle school runners from around the region.
Joining McNeese in the field will be teams from Alcorn State, Blinn College, Houston Christian, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, North Central Texas College (women only), Northwestern State (women only), Prairie View A&M, and Rice (women only).
The Cowgirls will be without top runner
Jeny Barcenas who is back home in Columbia where she will be competing for her National Team at the U23 South American Track and Field Championships on Saturday.
