VB: Cowgirls Fall To Santa Clara...Moore and Grose Named To All-Tournament Team

ARLINGTON, Texas --  McNeese volleyball (2-4) fell 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-13) to Santa Clara (3-2) on Saturday, the final day of the UT-Arlington Classic.
 
The Cowgirls end tournament action with a 1-2 record with its win coming in a straight sets against UL-Monroe on Thursday.
 
McNeese will travel to UL-Lafayette next Tuesday for a 6 p.m. match before hosting its own Cowgirl Classic next Thursday-Saturday, Sept. 12-14.  McNeese will host Alcorn at 6:30 p.m. in its home opener Thursday night.
 
 
POST MATCH NOTES
McKenzie Moore led McNeese with eight kills
Naterah Moore and Kayla Willson added four kills apiece
Megan Grose was credited with 15 assists
Bailey Tillman led all players with 17 digs
• Moore and Grose were named to the all-tournament team
 
 
Set 1
• McNeese held an early 9-8 lead but a 4-0 run by Santa Clara put them up 12-9
• The Cowgirls fought back to pull to within one point, but another Santa Clara run gave the Broncos a 22-14 lead before going on to win the set.
 
Set 2
• The Broncos jumped out to a 9-3 lead
• The Cowgirls then went on a 9-1 run to take a 12-10 lead
• Santa Clare retook the lead 14-12) on a mini run
• The set stayed within two points until the Broncos would score the last four points of the set to take a 2-0 match lead
 
Set 3
• Santa Clara jumped out to an 11-0 lead
• McNeese got as close as six points (16-10) before a 9-3 run gave the Broncos the third set win and the overall match win.
