BATON ROUGE – McNeese Cowboy thrower
Marcus Francis took home gold in the men's shot put at Friday's LSU Purple Tiger indoor meet Friday afternoon.
The senior from Lake Charles picked up his second career indoor win after throwing 55-8 ¼, beating out Southeastern's Donroy Brown by nearly eight inches.
The Cowboys had a couple of second place finishes on the day,
Sullivan Hanna in the 800-meters with a time of 1:57.51 and
Nicholas Moron in the 400m at 50.11.
Logan Broussard placed third in the 200m with a time of 23.14 and
Ondray Miles third in the 600m at 1:20.08.
For the Cowgirls,
Jaslyn Russell posted two top three finishes. She placed second in the shot put with a mark of 46-3 ¼ and third in the weight throw at 55-0 ¼.
Ashari Jones finished third in the shot put at 44-7 ½.
McNeese returns to action on Jan. 30-31 when it hosts the McNeese Indoor II & Multi at the Ralph Ward Rec Complex.
