18 wins, 16 PRs and a school record highlights day at McNeese Indoor

LAKE CHARLES – Eighteen total first place finishes, 16 personal records set, and a McNeese school record broken highlighted McNeese's day at the annual indoor track and field meet on Friday.
 
McNeese came up big in both the men's and women's throws, taking first place in the shot put and weight throw in both events for each squad.
 
Cowboy thrower Marcus Francis had the big throw of the day in the weight throw where he set a new school record with his mark of 62-8.5, one that ranks eighth in the NCAA South Central Region and second in the Southland Conference. He was a double-winner when he captured first in the shot put with a throw of 57-5.5.
 
For the Cowgirls in the throwing events, Jaslyn Russell won the shot put with a personal-record throw of 47-0.75 while freshman Ta'Khara Johnson captured the weight throw event with a PR mark of 54-1.75, moving her up to 16th in the region.
 
Winners on the day for the Cowboys included: Amari Godette in the 55m (6.54), Jaden Powell (600m, 1:24.90), Abdullah Elkhair (800m, 1:54.26), Alex Martin (mile with a PR time of 4:12.90), Ryan McCarthy (3000m with a PR time of 8:45.83), Daniel Miller (55m hurdles, 8.28), Chris Calloura (high jump, 6-4.75), Amire Ledet (triple jump with a PR mark of 49-4.25), and the McNeese A 4x400 relay team (3:18.00 with the team compiled of Nicholas Moron, Kalen Beavers, Jaden Powell, Ondray Miles).
 
Other first place winners for the Cowgirls consisted of:  Latavia Jack in the 55m with a time4 of 7.27, Jeny Barcenas in both the mile run (5:04.61) and the 3000m (10:24.15), and the Cowgirl A relay team made up of Janayah Dotson, Gabriele Andrews, Keelei Dorsey and Jashyra Thoms with a time of 3:55.46.
