McNeese visits NSU in battle of league unbeatens on Monday

NATCHITOCHES – Coming off a school-record winning win over East Texas A&M that saw McNeese won its 14th-straight Southland Conference win, McNeese will visit Northwestern State in a battle of two of the only three unbeaten league teams with the victor holding onto its perch above the others.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at NSU's Prather Coliseum. The game will broadcast live on ESPN+ and on the McNeese Radio Network (Power 92.1 FM).
 
McNeese (9-5, 3-0) defeated East Texas A&M 75-56 on Saturday while NSU (7-6, 3-0) knocked off Nicholls by a 68-66 score.
 
The Cowboys lead the all-time series 71-69 and have won three straight games and six of the last seven meetings. The two will play again on February 8 in Lake Charles.
 
COWBOY NOTABLES
• McNeese's win over East Texas A&M on Saturday was the 14th straight conference win dating back to last season and set a new school record... it also ranks tied as the 7th-longest in Southland Conference history with the 1997-98 Nicholls Colonels.
• In their nine wins, the Cowboys have held each opponent to under 70 points and three under 60.
Joe Charles recorded his first double-double of the season at ETAM (10-10) and the 12th in his career.
Javohn Garcia has scored 20 or more in back-to-back games.
Sincere Parker returned to the floor at ETAM and scored 14 points... he missed the previous 1 1/2 games due to an illness.
Omar Cooper has missed the last three games due to an illness and will not play on Monday.
Brandon Murray missed his third straight game with a sore knee but is likely to play on Monday.
Christian Shumate recorded his first double-double of the season against Southeastern, and the 35th of his career, a school record and 3rd-most in SLC history.
