Ryan McCarthy and
Jeny Barcenas led the Cowboys and Cowgirls at Friday's Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Cross Country Invitational in the squad's final meet before the Oct. 31 Southland Conference Championships.
McCarthy finished 79
th overall out of 323 runners in the men's 8k race, clocking a 24:21.7 time to pace the Cowboys, who finished 24
th overall as a team. The time set a personal record for the sophomore.
Owen Kirkland clocked a PR with a time of 26:30.2.
Barcenas was the top Cowgirl to cross the finish line, running a 21:47.3 6k race to finish 99
th out of 311 runners while the Cowgirls placed 26
th as a team. Three Cowgirls ran personal bests in the 6k race –
Elsa Moore (22.26.7), Rylee Kai Challenor (23:23.9), and
Darcey Tullis (26:12.7).
Texas A&M won the men's team title while Wake Forest won the women's.
