WBB: Cowgirls Receive Votes In Mid-Major Top 25 Preseason Poll

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's basketball, under first year head coach Ayla Guzzardo received votes in the College Insider Women's Mid-Major Top 25 Preseason Poll, the organization announced on Monday.
 
The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Coastal Athletic, Conference USA, Horizon, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast, Western Athletic.
 
The preseason poll recognition is the second time the Cowgirls receive votes in the preseason poll since the poll's inception. 
 
The 2011-12 team ranked 18th in the preseason poll on Nov. 2, 2011. Ironically, that season is the last time McNeese advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
 
McNeese ranked four other times in the poll that season, with its highest ranking being ranked 11th on Dec. 13, 2011.
 
Belmont, who the Cowgirls could potentially play while at the Baha Mar Hoops Pink Flamingo Championship in Nassau, Bahamas (Nov. 24-26) begins the season ranked fourth.
 
Stephen F. Austin and Incarnate Word also received votes along with the Cowgirls.
