NATCHITOCHES – McNeese's cross country teams will run at the 2025 Southland Conference Championships on Friday morning on the Northwestern State Campus.
The women will run a 6k race beginning at 8:30 a.m. while the men's 8k will begin at 9:30. Both races will broadcast live on
ESPN+.
Competing for the Cowgirls will be
Jeny Barcenas,
Elsa Moore, Rylee Challenor,
Danielle Salinas,
Edyn Hill,
Sheila Kipruto,
Grace French, and Uxue Castro Martin.
The Cowboys' roster will consist of
Ryan McCarthy,
Gregory Martin,
Samuel Serrano Borrego,
Sullivan Hanna,
Kevin Kimaiyo,
Owen Kirkland, Nathan Waller, James Boutte, and Abdullah Elkhair.
Senior Cowgirl runner
Jeny Barcenas has been the top runner on the squad for a couple of years now and will head into Friday's meet with the top 6k time on the roster at 21:47.3 she ran at the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational two weeks ago. Barcenas placed 21
st at last year's league championships.
McCarthy is the top runner for the Cowboys entering the meet and is coming off a personal record time in the 8k with a time of 24:21.7 at the Texas A&M meet. He led the Cowboys at last year's conference meet with a 27
th place finish.
