Lake Charles — McNeese Cowgirl Soccer (3-8-3, 2-2-1) secured a gritty 1-0 shutout over UTRGV (4-8-1, 2-4-0) Thursday night at Cowgirl Field.
The Cowgirls wasted no time setting the tone. In just the 6
th minute,
Karlyn Judge delivered an assist to
Florencia Saavedra, who buried the lone goal of the match, her strike proving to be the game-winner.
From there, it was a defensive grind. Both teams battled hard for possession, combining for 18 fouls and four yellow cards over the final 84 minutes. But McNeese stood tall, locking down the back line to earn their second conference win.
