LUBBOCK, Texas – McNeese's 4x400-meter Cowboys relay team broke a 4-year-old school record Saturday on the final day of the Texas Tech Jarvis Scott Open, running a 3:11.76 to break the old mark of 3:12.80 by more than a second.
The team made up of
Nicholas Moron,
Tray'Quan Francis,
Jaden Powell and
Ondray Miles also clocked the second-fastest time in the Southland Conference and 13
th-fastest in the South Central Region.
Kalen Beavers clocked a personal record in the 200-meters with a time of 21.35 to place second in the B Section.
For the Cowgirls,
Jaslyn Russell set a new personal record in the shot put by throwing 49-0.25.
Marcus Francis had another solid showing in the men's shot put, placing sixth with a throw of 55-9.75.
Alex Martin had a third place finish in the mile run with a time of 4:14.38 and
Amire Ledet placed eighth in the triple jump at 48-10.
McNeese will next turn its attention to the LSU Twilight Invite on Friday in the final tune-up before the Southland Conference Indoor Championships March 2-3.
