BATON ROUGE – McNeese track and field returns to the oval on Friday in the final tune-up before the Southland Conference Indoor Championships while it takes part at the LSU Twilight at the Carl Maddox Fieldhouse on the LSU campus.
Events will get underway at 9 a.m. with the women's weight throw followed by the men at 10:30.
McNeese will have 36 total entries in the meet going against 11 other schools – Alabama, Dillard, Hinds CC, LSU, Meridian CC, Nicholls, Northwestern State, Southeastern, St. Thomas, Texas Lutheran and Tulane.
Cowboys' thrower,
Marcus Francis, will compete in both the weight throw and shot put. He's the reigning Southland Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week and is a two-time school record holder in the weight event. He's ranked No. 1 in the Southland Conference in the shot put and is second in the weight throw.
Jaslyn Russell, the women's Field Athlete of the Week for the conference this week, will also throw the shot put and the weight. Russell tops the league in the shot put and is ranked No. 6 in the weight event.
