LAKE CHARLES—McNeese beach volleyball ended day one of its own Cowgirl Beach Bash with a 2-0 record with a win over Sam Houston Friday morning before beginning Southland Conference with an evening win over Nicholls.

McNeese will play Mary Hardin-Baylor at 11 a.m. and will conclude the tournament with a 5 p.m. match against New Orleans on Saturday.

McNeese (4-2, 1-0 SLC) began the day with a 4-1 win over Sam Houston.  McNeese didn't waste any time in the win over Sam Houston, picking up the first four wins of the match at duals 3, 4, 2, and 5 to claim the win.  The Cowgirls No. 2 dual (Rylee Lansing and Kendall Osgood) defeated Hannah Baker and Talan Dodson 21-16, 21-11 was the dual that clinched the match. Sam Houston won dual 1 for its only point of the match. 

The Cowgirls closed out Day 1 with a 5-0 Southland Conference win over Nicholls with the Cowgirls No. 2 dual of Lansing and Osgood clinching the match with the third win of the overall match.
