LAKE CHARLES – McNeese baseball (9-1, 3-0 SLC) run-ruled Nicholls (5-7, 0-3 SLC) 14-3 in seven innings Sunday evening to complete the conference-opening series sweep at Joe Miller Ballpark.

McNeese opens its conference slate up 3-0 for the first time since 2021 when sweeping Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at home while getting off to its best start overall since the 1991 campaign.

The offensive battle began in the first inning with three runs being plated for each squad ahead of a big second for the Cowboys who tacked on six additional runs during the bottom of the second for a 9-3 lead!

McNeese struck again in the bottom of the fourth, scoring a run on a balk and another on an RBI double by junior
Larry Edwards Jr. for his fourth RBI of the game.

The Cowboys scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth followed by three in the seventh, including a game-ending home run by redshirt sophomore
Easton Dowell out to left field.

Edwards concluded the game with three hits on four at-bats, five RBIs, and one runs scored for the gold and blue.

The Cowboys will conclude its home stand Tuesday against Dillard at 1 p.m. at Joe Miller Ballpark.
