Marcus Francis won the men's discus with a throw of 170-09.00 Friday night on the first day of the UL-Louisiana Classics and the teams only first place of the day.
The Cowboys also had a second-place finish by
Darren Taylor (192-09.00) and a fourth-place finish by
Tanny Beard in the Javelin. Beard's throw was 179-01.00.
The Cowgirls got a second place in the discus and a third-place finish in the javelin.Â
Jaslyn Russell had a throw of 146.05.00 in the discus and
Faith Cauthron had a throw of 127.06.00. Â

The meet will run through Saturday with the first event (Men's Hammer) scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and the final event (Men's 4x400m Relay) scheduled to start at 5:35 p.m.
