SB: Cowgirls Pick Up 8-2 Win Over South Alabama

LAKE CHARLES.---  McNeese softball got the timely hits Wednesday night, something that was missing in the last few games, in its 8-2 win over South Alabama- just in time before its Southland Conference opening series at Lamar this weekend.

McNeese (12-10) trailed 1-0 after the first inning but used a five run third inning to take a 5-1 lead, one they wouldn't give up.

Four of the five Cowgirl runs came off three hits including a two RBI double by Nyjah Fontenot and a two RBI homerun by Jada Muñoz, her sixth long ball of the season.  The other Cowgirl run was scored by Reese Reyna who led the inning off with a double.

The Cowgirls added two more runs in the fourth inning with Reyna having a hand in both runs scored.  After a leadoff walk by Brylie Fontenot, Reyna tripled to right center that scored Fontenot.  Reyna would later score on a wild pitch for a 7-2 lead.

The single McNeese run in the fifth came off a bases loaded walk by DeLaney Dunham that brought Rylie Bouvier home.

South Alabama (11-10) picked up its second run of the game in the seventh on a RBI by M. Davidson.

McNeese ended the game with eight hits, five being extra base hits.  Kassidy Chance, Muñoz, and Reyna all had two hits apiece to lead the offense.  Nyjah Fontenot, Muñoz, and Dunham all had two RBI apiece.

Alexis Dibbley picked up her second win of the season to improve to 2-1 on the year.  Dibbley allowed one run on two hits, struck out one and walked five in 4.0 innings.

Tori Miller fell to 4-2 on the season after allowing seven runs on five hits in 3.0 innings.
