LAKE CHARLES— McNeese softball, tied for first place in the SLC standings, will travel to Houston, Texas this weekend for a three game Southland Conference series against Houston Christian.  A 4 p.m. doubleheader is scheduled for Friday and a single game at 12 p.m. Saturday will conclude the series.  Only Saturday's game will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
McNeese (28-17, 14-4 SLC) will carry a five-game winning streak into the weekend after sweeping Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a midweek SLC series on Tuesday and Wednesday. 
 
Since March 14, McNeese has won 14 of its last 18 games. Since The Cowgirls dropped their SLC opening series at Lamar (March 7-8), McNeese has won its last five SLC series, picking up sweeps in three of the five.
 
Houston Christian (13-25, 6-12) enters the series in seventh place and have lost their last six games including three games at Nicholls in this week's midweek series.  
 
The Cowgirls enter the series with the best batting average (.353), slugging percent (.529), on base percent (.412), hits (170), doubles (37), triples (9), and tied for RBI with 100 in conference games.
 
Jada Muñoz has a team high 10 homeruns, 15 doubles, 42 runs scored, 33 RBI, and 18 walks.
Samantha Mundine leads the team with a .388 batting average and is tied for a team high 50 hits.  Kassidy Chance (.383 batting average) is also tied for a team high with 50 hits.
