NATCHITOCHES – McNeese's men's 4x100-meter relay team of Kalen and
Koen Beavers,
Jaden Powell and
Amari Godette made history for the second time in three weeks this past Saturday at the NSU Leon Johnson Invitational as the foursome sprinted to a new school record in the event with a 40.0 time.
The school record time beat out the previous mark of 40.05 that was set by the four sprinters back on March 22 at the ULL Louisiana Classic. It's the third-fastest time in the Southland Conference this season.
Kalen Beavers added to his stellar performance on the day by clocking a personal best time in the 200-meters of 20.99 for a second-place finish. That currently ranks as the fourth-fastest time in school history.
In the field, Cowboys' thrower
Marcus Francis continued to make a push for the 34-year-old school shot put record after he notched a personal best mark of 60-2 for a second-place finish and improved on his league-best measurement on the year.
Darren Taylor topped 200-feet in the javelin event for second time in his career by winning the event with a personal-record mark of 202-6. It's the fourth-career win for the junior and has moved up to No. 5 in the conference season rankings.
