THIBODAUX – Despite having a more than five-hour delay, McNeese tennis remained resilient to clinch a 4-0 victory over Nicholls Tuesday night to advance to the SLC Quarterfinals at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex. McNeese improves to 19-6, 5-4 SLC as the Colonels finish the season at 8-14, 1-8 SLC.
 
The Cowgirls started the evening strong, taking the doubles point 2-0 with Salome Fluri and Stella Rundova, a pair of freshmen, taking a 6-2 victory as the No. 1 doubles. The duo improved their doubles record to 14-7 on the season.
 
Erica Hagi and Alexa Martinez clinched the No. 2 doubles for the Pokes to take a 1-0 lead against the Colonels.
 
Fluri kept the momentum rolling to give McNeese a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 1 singles flight, improving her season record to 22-2. The victory lifts her to second all-time in program history for wins in a season. The SLC Player and Freshman of the Year remains just three shy of tying the program record.
 
Ana Hollweg, the SLC Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore, took the third point for the Pokes with a 6-3, 6-1 victory in the No. 3 singles. It marked her 16^th victory of the campaign.
 
Freshman Stella Rundova clinched the match for McNeese with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 6 singles to remain undefeated at 12-0. 
 
McNeese advances to face third-seeded Northwestern State Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
