NACOGDOCHES, Texas—McNeese softball made Southland Conference history Saturday by becoming the first program to win four straight Southland Conference regular season titles following its doubleheader (6-1, 4-3) win at Stephen F. Austin.  The teams play a single game at 12 p.m. Sunday.
McNeese improves to 36-18 overall and 22-4 in the SLC with the wins.  Stephen F. Austin falls to 26-26 overall and 14-12 in the SLC.
The Cowgirls will be the No. 1 seed in next week's bracket play pod that will host the No. 4, 5, and 8 seeds.  Tournament seeding will be released sometime following Sunday's games.

T1 – Kassidy Chance led the game off with a walk then stole second to move into scoring position. A two out tripled by Samanatha Mundine scored Chance. McN 1, SFA 0
T3- A sacrifice fly by Jada Muñoz scored Chance who reached on an error. McN 2, SFA0
B3-  A double to by Mikaelah Burkland scored Chloe Reneau to cut the Cowgirls lead in half. McN 2, SFA 1
T6-  Brylie Fontenot's RBI single to third base scored Muñoz from third following an overturned call at first base that went in favor of the Cowgirls. McN 3, SFA 1
T7- McNeese scored three insurance runs on back-to-back doubles by Muñoz and Mundine. McN 6, SFA 1

HOW IT HAPPENED
B4 – SFA broke a scoreless game with two runs when Jamie Varga tripled with two outs and scored the first run of the game on a RBI single by Chloe Reneau.  A double by Kelby Robbins scored Reneau for the second SFA run of the game.  SFA 2, McN 1  
T5- McNeese cut the lead in half on a RBI single by Onna McElroy that scored Reese Reyna.  Reyna doubled. SFA 2, McN 1
T6- a three-run homerun by Jada Muñoz, her 14^th of the season gave McNeese the lead. McN 4, SFA 2

 
NOTES
• With the doubleheader win, McNeese clinched the outright regular season title and is the first program in SLC history to win four straight Southland conference regular season titles
• Senior shortstop Reese Reyna becomes the first McNeese player to be part of four regular season titles
• Maddie Taylor improved to 16-7 overall and 11-1 in the SLC with the game one win
• Ryann Schexnayder picked up the win in relief in game two to improve to 6-1 on the season
