LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's tennis capped off its 2025 home schedule with a 6-1 Southland Conference win over New Orleans Monday, extending its winning streak to five matches and improving to 18-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
With the win the Cowgirls end their season 10-1 at home with their lone loss coming against Tarleton State on March 18.
New Orleans falls to 5-10 overall and 1-6 in the SLC.
McNeese won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to give the Cowgirls a 1-0 lead. The Cowgirls went on to pick up five of the six singles wins to clinch the match.
Alexa Martinez's 6-3, 6-1 win over Nouray Khaled on court 4 was the match clinching win. Martinez improves to 14-3 overall and 6-1 in the SLC.
Salome Fluri extended her winning streak to 16 matches with her 6-1, 6-1 win over Ana Kouchnareva on court1. Fluri remains undefeated at 7-0 in conference matches and improves to 19-2 overall.
Erica Hagi (8-6 6-1 SLC),
Elena Morales (13-3, 4-0 SLC), and
Stella Rundova (9-0, 5-0 SLC) also picked up singles wins, all in straight sets.
McNeese will conclude its regular season this weekend when the Cowgirls travel to first place Northwestern State (6-6, 6-0 SLC) who is undefeated in league action on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match. McNeese will finish the regular season at Stephen F. Austin on Monday, April 14 with an 11 a.m. match.
The Southland Conference Tournament is scheduled for April 22-26 in Thibodaux.
