Juan Yepes picked up his first career win and the Cowgirls (1-1-1) picked up their first win of the season in fine fashion with a 4-0 shutout victory over Southern (1-1-0) Thursday night.
Besides Yepes' first career win and the Cowgirls' first win of the season, the match included several firsts for players as well.
Grace Denison got the scoring started for the Cowgirls when she connected on a goal in the 29th minute for her second career goal.
Coming out of halftime and leading 1-0 it was all Cowgirls the rest of the way.
Credited with her first career goal in the 50th minute for a 2-0 lead came courtesy of
Rhiannon Maynes-Tourond who was assisted by
Sumayah Brown's first collegiate assist.
Tuana Demirbas picked up her first collegiate goal in the 56th minute off an assist from Brown to push the lead to 3-0.
The final Cowgirl goal came In the 83rd minute from passes from
Florencia Saavedra and Maynes-Tourond who connected with
Riley Hicock for the fourth goal of the night for the Cowgirls.
