Pitt’s Last-Minute Goal Lifts Cowgirls Over Colonels

Thibodaux — McNeese Soccer (2-7-3, 1-1-1) earned a hard-fought 2-1 win over Nicholls (4-6-1, 1-2-0) on Sunday, powered by a late in goal in the final minutes of the match.

Both teams battled through a scoreless first half, with neither side being able to find an edge before the break.

McNeese broke through in the 67th minute when Rhiannon Maynes-Tourond buried a free kick to give the Cowgirls a 1-0 lead. Nicholls responded in the 83rd minute, as Cameron Bonadona headed in the equalizer off a corner from Mylea Riggle.

With the clock winding down in the final minutes of the match, McNeese netted the winner. In the 89th minute, Alexi Pitt scored off an assist from Elizabeth Edomwonyi which sealed the Cowgirls' first conference win of the season.
