WBB: First Place Cowgirls Travel To Texas A&M-CC Thursday

LAKE CHARLES—League leading McNeese women's basketball (12-4, 6-1 SLC) will travel to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (2-12, 1-6 SLC) in the first of three straight road games.  McNeese will be on the road for most of the rest of January when they will play five of its next six games on the road.

McNeese (12-4, 6-1 SLC) is riding a five-game winning streak following its 77-55 home win over Southeastern last Saturday.

Freshman Dakota Howard, who recorded her first career double double (23 pts., 10 reb.) against Southeastern is one of two Cowgirls averaging in double figures.  Howard leads the team in scoring (12.8 ppg.), steals (43), and is tied for a team high with 86 total rebounds.  Howard is second on the team with 5.4 rpg. and 17.0 ppg. in conference games.

Graduate Arianna Patton leads the team with 36 three-pointers made and is second on the team in scoring (10.0 ppg.). 

Senior Lexi Alexander leads the Cowgirls with 5.7 rpg. and Jalencia Pierre has a team high 56 assists.

McNeese will travel to UTRGV on Saturday, Jan. 17 for a 2 p.m. game.

Dakota Howard, who recorded her first career double double against Southeastern continues to lead the team in scoring with 12.8 ppg., steals (43), and is tied for a team high in total rebounds (86). She is second on the team with 5.4rpg. and has scored in double figures in 12 of 16 games this season including 11 out of last 13 games.  She is averaging 17.0 ppg. in conference games.
Lexi Alexander leads the Cowgirls in rebounds with 5.7 per game.
• Jalencia Pierre has a team high 56 assists (4.0 apg.) and is second on the team with 31 steals.  She leads the SLC and ranks 31st in the nation in assist/turnover ratio (2.67).
 
 TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI NOTES
• Enter the game 2-12 overall and 1-6 on the SLC

• Looking to snap a three-game losing streak and have lost 11 of last 12 games
