LAKE CHARLES – McNeese track and field returned to action on Friday when it hosted the McNeese Indoor II meet at the Ralph Ward Recreation Complex and the end results were positive for both the Cowboys and Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls posted six first place finishes including a double-winner from thrower
Jaslyn Russell who won the shot put with a throw of 50-4 ½ and the weight throw with a mark of 56-6 ½. Her shot put throw set a new personal record.
Uxue Castro-Martin won the 800-meters with a PR time of 2:17.96 and finished second in the mile run at 5:10.31.
Jeny Barcenas won the mile race with a time of 4:59.15 and placed second in the 3000m at 9:58.06.
Kennah Bent won the pentathlon with 2,819 points, the first collegiate win for the freshman, and the 4x400 relay team made up of Gabriele Andrews,
Keelei Dorsey,
Alexandria Stewart and
Jashyra Thomas won the race with a time of 4:00.76.
The Cowboys had eight first place finishes, seven of those coming in the running events.
Freshman
Elijah Hay made his collegiate debut by winning the 55m dash with a time of 6.67 and placed second in the 200 meters at 22.77. Fellow freshman Simon Larsen won the 200m with a time of 22.76 and placed second in the 55 meters with a 6.71.
Nicholas Moron won the 400 meters with a time of 50.80 and Abdullah Elkhair won the 600m with a PR time of 1:24.39. Senior
Colby Trahan recorded the first second place finish in his career when he ran a 1:24.68 in the 600m.
The Cowboys swept the top three places in the mile run with
Gregory Martin winning the event by setting a new personal record with a time of 4:10.31.
Samuel Serrano Borrego placed second with a 4:11.54, also a PR, while
Omer El-Fadl finished third with a 4:16.50.
Ryan McCarthy set a PR with his win in the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:25.90 and
Daniel Miller won the 55-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 8.26.
Freshman
Lawson Fritsch won the pole vault after clearing 16-0.75.
