TYLER, Texas--  McNeese sophomore Salome Fluri set a new McNeese women's tennis continuous singles winning streak Sunday with her 6-4, 7-5 win over UT-Tyler's Yona Bancarel to extend her winning streak to 25 matches dating back to last season.  The streak is believed to be the longest current continuous winning streak in NCAA.

Fluri hasn't lost a singles match since Feb. 2, 2025 against UCA.  She extended her winning streak to 26 singles matches with a straight set win over Dina Lipovski of Tyler Junior College later Sunday afternoon.

The Cowgirls battled in tough conditions but came away with two wins on Sunday to improve to 8-1 on the season.

"Sunday showed a lot about this team," said head coach Sonia Carlson. "Going on the road for the third weekend in a row and battling through tough conditions isn't easy, but we embraced it and competed the right way against two very competitive teams. We're continuing to build momentum and trust in each other, and you can see our confidence growing. With one more weekend before conference play, we're locked in and ready to take that next step." 

McNeese will travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi this Friday, Feb. 21 to face Southern Miss at 2 p.m. then will travel to Jackson, Miss. Saturday for a 12 p.m. match.
