McNeese Heads East for Battle With Reigning National Champions

BATON ROUGE – McNeese baseball hits the road for only the second time this year for a midweek match up against the reigning College World Series Champions, the LSU Tigers. First pitch on Tuesday is slated for 6:30 inside of Skip Bertman Field at Alex Box Stadium. The game will broadcast live on the SECN+.
 
LSU, ranked No. 1 or 2 in all major college baseball polls, is the first ranked opponent for the Cowboys this season.
 
 The Cowboys (2-5) are coming off a three-game series loss to the Kansas Jayhawks of the Big 12 conference where their offense accounted for 17 hits, 2 doubles, 1 home run, and 4 RBI's. Senior, RHP Paul Coppinger made his first appearance on the mound this season for the Cowboys after his last appearance dating back to April 17, 2025.
 
LSU (8-0) is coming off the weekend 3-0 after playing at the Jax College Baseball Classic in Jacksonville, Fla. over the weekend where they saw wins over Indiana, Notre Dame, and a mercy rule win over Central Florida in seven innings. Last season LSU beat Coastal Carolina in the CWS Championship Series, 2-0, to claim the National Champion crown in baseball.
