LAKE CHARLES – McNeese Cowgirls beach volleyball (7–1) is off to the best start in program history after an undefeated weekend at the Cowgirl Beach Bash, earning wins over University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and University of New Orleans.
With Saturday's victories, the No. 4 pair of
Gracie Behneke and
Breanna Cagle improved to a perfect 8–0 on the season, continuing their dominant start.
In the opening match against Mary Hardin-Baylor (6–2),
Bethanie Durant and
Reese Russell clinched the decisive point to secure a 4–1 victory — marking the first win over the Crusaders in program history.
The momentum carried into the second match as
Kendall Osgood and
McKenzie Moore delivered the clinching point in a 4–1 win over New Orleans (3–5). The victory extends the Cowgirls' streak against the Privateers to four consecutive wins.
The Sandy Pokes return to action next weekend, traveling to New Orleans for the Big Easy Beach Invitational, where they will face College of Charleston, Southeastern Louisiana University, and two matches against host New Orleans.
