FRISCO, Texas – McNeese senior thrower
Jaslyn Russell has been named this week's Southland Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at this past weekend's McNeese Indoor II meet.
The Oakdale native was a double-winner for the second straight meet, capturing first place medals in the shot put and weight throw events.
She threw a personal record in the shot put, marking out at 50-4.5 which is ranked No. 2 in the Southland Conference. She threw 56-6.5 in the weight throw to win that event.
Russell and the rest of the McNeese track and field team will be back in action this Friday and Saturday when it competes at the UAB Green and Gold Invite.
