LAKE CHARLES— McNeese softball (20-9, 4-2 SLC) will look to bounce back from a Southland Conference series loss against Northwestern State last weekend when the Cowgirls will travel to Thibodaux this weekend for a three-game series against Nicholls (16-12, 4-2 SLC). 

The series will begin with a 6 p.m. single game on Friday and will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday slated for a 1 p.m. start.  All three games will stream on ESPN+.

McNeese, winners of five of its last seven games dropped two of three games at Northwestern State last weekend.  Nicholls have won four of its last five games and are coming off a 10-0 run-rule shutout against Alcorn on Tuesday night.

The Cowgirls enter the series with the third highest team batting average in the SLC (.316).  Nicholls comes into the series with a .282 average, fifth best in the league.

Nyjah Fontenot is one of five Cowgirls batting over .300.  Fontenot has been swinging a hot bat and currently leads the team with a .402 average, 39 hits, seven homeruns, 27 RBI, and 29 runs scored. 

Rylee Cloud (.356), Jada Muñoz (.329), Alexis Dibbley (.319) and Corine Poncho (.303) are also batting above .300.  Dibbley leads the Cowgirls with 10 doubles.

Freshman Brookelyn Taylor and sophomore Maddie Taylor both lead the pitching staff with seven wins apiece.  Brookelyn is 7-3 on the season with a 2.87 ERA, 50 strikeouts, four saves in 68.1 innings.  Maddie is 7-1 on the year with a 4.11 ERA, 25 strikeouts in 46.0 innings.  Kynlei Chapman (4-4) has a 3.96 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 46.0 innings.

Nicholls is led on offense by Claire Sisco's .421 batting average, 40 hits, and 27 runs scored.  In the circle for the Colonels, Molly Yoo leads (8-5) leads the staff with a 3.17 ERA, 59 strikeouts in 84.0 innings.
