YOUNGSVILLE – The McNeese Cowgirls beach volleyball team continued its historic start to the season, finishing 3-1 at the Southland Conference Midseason Tournament to improve to 15-4 (4-2 SLC). The weekend marks the program's best performance at the event.
McNeese opened competition on Saturday with a strong showing, defeating New Orleans 4-1 for its third win over the Privateers this season. The Sandy Pokes followed with a dominant 5-0 sweep of Stephen F. Austin, securing their first-ever win over the Ladyjacks and closing day one with a 2-0 record.
The Cowgirls faced a tougher test to begin Sunday, falling 5-0 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. McNeese bounced back in its final match of the weekend, edging Houston Christian 3-2. The decisive point came from the No. 5 pair of Isabella Giarla and McKenna Malone, who clinched the team victory.
McNeese returns home on Saturday, March 28 to host the Sandy Poke Invitational and Senior Day. The Cowgirls will face Tarleton State at 10 a.m. before taking on Southeastern at 2 p.m.
