LAKE CHARLES-  McNeese women's tennis clinched the outright Southland Conference regular season title here Saturday with a 5-2 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.  The regular season title for the Cowgirls is only the second in program history.  The 2018 team were co-champions.

With the win, the Cowgirls improve to 20-1 overall, remain undefeated at 8-0 in the SLC and extend their winning streak to 15 matches.

The win ties the school record of 20 set by the 2024 team, the 15-match winning streak is the second longest in program history and the eight match SLC winning streak ties for the longest in program history.  The 2018 team also won eight straight conference matches.

McNeese took a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point Then went on to win four singles matches.  Erica Hagi clinched the match on court 5 with her come from behind 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 win over Adriana Jimenz.

Salome Fluri picked up a straight set win on court 1, Ana Hollweg also picked up a straight set win on court 4 and Elena Morales also came from behind to pick up a three-set win on court 6.

McNeese will close out the regular season with an 11 a.m. home match against UTRGV on Monday, April 13.
