Keller’s Walk-Off Homer Lifts McNeese to Series Win Over UIW

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese baseball secured the series win over Incarnate Word on Sunday, walking it off in dramatic fashion with an 8-6 victory behind Isaiah Keller's three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth.

With the win, the Cowboys improve to 19-17 overall (9-9 Southland Conference), while Incarnate Word falls to 17-19 overall (8-13 SLC). McNeese returns to action Tuesday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Grambling.

McNeese struck first in the opening inning when Matt Stancliff launched his fourth home run of the season over the right field wall to give the Cowboys a 1-0 lead.

The Cowboys added to their advantage in the third inning when Kaden Schuck doubled to right-center field to score Connor Schneider and make it 2-0.

Starting pitcher Carlos Garcia was strong early, holding the Cardinals hitless through three innings while striking out one and walking two.

Incarnate Word got on the board in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Drake Anderson, scoring Cris Enriquez to cut the deficit to 2-1.

McNeese answered in the bottom half of the inning as Marcus Heusohn crossed the plate to extend the lead to 3-1.

The Cardinals surged ahead in the fifth inning, plating five runs. Enriquez delivered a two-RBI single, and Colin Cymbalista followed with a three-run home run to give UIW a 6-3 lead.

McNeese began its comeback in the eighth inning when Hayden Stringfellow launched a two-run home run to bring the Cowboys within one at 6-5.

In the bottom of the ninth, Stancliff singled and Danny Barbero was hit by a pitch to set the stage for Keller. The freshman delivered, blasting a three-run home run over the left field wall to secure the walk-off victory—McNeese's fourth of the season.

Jake Blackwell earned the win, improving to 4-0 after pitching a scoreless ninth inning while allowing just one hit.

Incarnate Word reliever Chase Blease took the loss, allowing three runs on two hits in one-third of an inning.
