LAKE CHARLES— McNeese softball (26-17, 10-8 SLC) will return home for its next seven games including two Southland Conference series this week.Â

The Cowgirls will host Houston Christian (6-32. 3-15 SLC) in a midweek conference series and a weekend SLC series against Stephen F. Austin.  Â

The HCU series will begin with a single game Tuesday, April 14 at 6 p.m. and will conclude with a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Wednesday. The SFA series will consists of a single game on Friday, April 17 at 1 p.m. and a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. All six games will stream on ESPN+.

McNeese will look to gain ground in the conference standings and make a push for an opportunity to be a host for the SLC Tournament. The league's top two teams will host a four-team bracket play April 30-May 3.

The Cowgirls enter the week tied for fifth place with Northwestern State, two games out of second place which is currently held by Incarnate Word who enters this week's SLC series at East Texas A&M and Lamar with a 12-6 SLC record. Â Â

McNeese is coming off a SLC road series sweep  at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi while HCU dropped a home series against Nicholls. The Huskies picked up a 4-2 win in the second game of the series that snapped a nine-game losing streak.
