THIBODAUX – The McNeese Cowgirls beach volleyball team closed out the regular season on Wednesday with a 5-0 victory over Nicholls, improving to 21-5 overall and 4-2 in Southland Conference play.

The win caps a historic season for the Cowgirls, who set a program record for victories while also seeing six players reach the 20-win mark—another first in program history.

McNeese dominated the dual, earning its second sweep of Nicholls this season. Four of the five pairs won in straight sets, with the No. 3 pair of Bethanie Durant and Reese Russell securing the clinching point.

The Cowgirls return to action on April 22 when they travel to Corpus Christi, Texas, for the Southland Conference Championship. McNeese enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed—the highest in program history—and will face No. 6 seed Stephen F. Austin at 11 a.m.
