BEAUMONT, Texas-- McNeese women's tennis advanced to the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tennis Championship with its 4-0 win over New Orleans on Sunday. The Cowgirls will face No. 4 seed Stephen F. Austin at 2 p.m. Monday with the winner advancing to the championship match at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
With the win, McNeese improves to 22-1 overall and extends its winning streak to a program record 17 straight matches.
McNeese took the lead by winning the doubles point by winning on court 2 and court 3.
Salome Fluri and
Erica Hagi defeated Katery Kalistratova and Ananaya Dhankhar 6-0 on court 1.
Ana Hollweg and
Naomi Hagi clinched the doubles point on court 2 with their 6-1 win over Neu Khaled Metwally and Naila Krifa for the 1-0 McNeese lead.
The Cowgirls went on to win three straight singles matches to pick up the win.
Stella Rundova's straight set win (6-1, 6-0) in singles on court 3 put the Cowgirls up 2-0 followed by a straight set win by Erida Hagi on court 5 before
Ana Hollweg clinched the match with her straight set win on court 4.
