WTEN: Cowgirls Fall To SFA In SLC Tournament Semifinals

BEAUMONT, Texas—McNeese women's tennis historic season came to an end Tuesday with a 4-2 loss to No. 4 seed Stephen F. Austin in the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tennis Championship. The Cowgirls end their season with a 21-2 overall record.
 
SFA advances to play No. 3 seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the championship match.
 
The Lumberjacks won the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.  SFA extended its lead to 3-0 with singles wins on courts 2 and 3. 
 
Salome Fluri picked up the Cowgirls first point of the day with a straight set 6-4, 6-1 win against Sonja Rooth on court one.  The Cowgirls pulled to within one point (3-2) with a 6-3, 6-2 straight set win on court 6 where Elena Morales defeated Alk Giannakogiorgou.
 
The Lumberjacks clinched the match on court 5 with Ana Paula Chavez's straight set 7-6, 6-4 win over Erica Hagi.
